PR Campaign Award
| Bank Of Ireland Sharon McDonnell
Bank of Ireland was established in 1783 and today it is the largest Irish listed bank by total assets, listed on the Irish, London and New York stock exchanges, with almost 16,000 employees in eight countries. The bank devised and delivered three innovative PR campaigns in 2007, each focused on one of three financial need states. All three campaigns achieved significant targeted coverage across a wide range of national and local consumer media, distributed chiefly through broadcast and print channels, with extensive radio coverage. Stories and pictures were carried in all the national print media and filtered out to the main regional titles. |
Belfast Zoo Joy Bond
Belfast Zoo is funded by Belfast City Council, but faced with a need to increase income and visitors, the zoo turned to PR. A comprehensive PR campaign across multiple media was carefully planned and executed, centred on a baby Barbary Lion born at the zoo in 2007. The aim of “Lily” campaign was to generate business by engaging the imagination of the public, while highlighting the educational and conservation significance of such a birth. With only a modest budget, the campaign secured very high coverage through the year, and resulted in very significant increases in visitor traffic and revenue. |
| Elevate PR Emma Kelly
Elevate was founded by Emma Kelly in 2001 and it has experienced steady growth over the last seven years. It specialises in lifestyle and prides itself on producing intelligent and quirky PR campaigns. Elevate was engaged by Coca-Cola to support the all-Ireland launch of Diet Coke Design Can 2007, a limited edition collection of six cans, each featuring a different design taken from the world of fashion, textiles and art. The campaign succeeded in establishing strong links for the brand to fashion and design. Key goals were all exceeded, delivering a major return on investment. Sales exceeded expectations and many outlets sold out quickly. |
Procter & Gamble Liz Baker
Founded in 1837 by Irishman James Gamble, from County Fermanagh, and Englishman William Procter, P&G today comprises 138,000 employees in over 80 countries. P&G established a business in Ireland in 1980, and its operations here include Marketing Development Organisations in Lisburn and Dublin, as well as sites in Newbridge, Carlow and Nenagh. In 2007 the marketing team sought to deploy a PR campaign to help reposition Max Factor in the market. The ‘Max Factor Salutes Great Moments in Fashion’ campaign successfully centred on a collection of 12 photographic portraits of Ireland’s leading ladies from the world of stage, politics, television and the arts. |
| Special Olympics Ireland Mary Gleeson
Special Olympics is an all-Ireland year-round sports and competition programme for people with a learning disability. It is now one of Ireland’s largest community and voluntary organisations, with 11,000 athletes participating in 12 sports through 402 clubs, supported by 100 community networks and 18,000 volunteers. A major PR campaign was devised to promote “The Road to China” initiative, which ran all over the country, culminating in a one-day fundraiser, to help support the athletes travelling to the 2007 Special Olympics in China. All 32 counties had at least 4 collection points, and the target €1 million was raised on the day. |
